James Thorne joined MDY Legal in 2009 as a Consultant in the firm’s corporate department, and provides advice to clients (both public bodies and private organisations) on corporate transactions and matters of company and commercial law, including sales and acquisitions of companies and businesses; corporate restructuring; corporate finance; the procurement process for the award of contracts; commercial contracts (agency, distributorship & contracts for services); matters of company & partnership law, administration and corporate governance; and matters of contract law.
James qualified as a Solicitor in 1992 at Linklaters, spending the next five years in its corporate department advising on M&A transactions and privatisations. This included a two-year posting to the firm’s Tokyo office, where he advised on a number of infrastructure projects as well as London listings, refinancing and other corporate transactions. James has continued to specialise in these practice areas and has also advised Government and aid organisations in relation to procurement and corporate governance issues. He has also written practice notes on company and partnership matters for a leading law publisher.
Admitted as a Solicitor (England & Wales) in 1992.
